4 Ways to Stop Negative Thoughts

By Alexa Eden

“90% of our thoughts are the same thoughts as yesterday and 70% of those thoughts are negative.”

Our minds were meant to explore endless possibilities to create and manifest our desires. But sometimes, negative  thinking can override our thought forms and leave us paralyzed and disempowered to take the next step. In fact, 90% of our thoughts are the same thoughts as yesterday and 70% of those thoughts are negative. Leaving us looped in a negative pattern.

With only 30% of positive thoughts, and 90% of those thoughts being the same thoughts as yesterday, you can see why a large number of the population feels hopeless, frustrated, and stuck in the same way of operating year after year.

Does this sound familiar? If so, it’s not too late to shift and prime your mind to become more positive, and optimistic. In fact, our minds are networks of electric messages. Each thought, passed from one synapse to another; the more active the synapse, the more active the thought. And we as conscious human beings have the capacity to create and rewire power certain thoughts.

In case you, or someone you know, experiences (or has been experiencing) habitual negative thinking, here are 4 tips to Stop Negative Thoughts forms:

  1. Take a deep breath. We know you’ve heard this before. It’s almost every meditation and mindset coaches go-to recommendation when it comes to slowing down thoughts.

  2. Say No. When the negative thought comes up, say “not true”. At first, it will seem strange like there is no space at all, but as you begin to pay attention (keep breathing, of course) you will notice the frequency of those thoughts feel like they are not true.

  3. Add a Positive Routine. The brain changes by replacing an old pattern with a new one. So visualize positive situations instead, your brain doesn’t know what’s reality and what’s imaginary, this will eventually become your permanent thought form making the negative thoughts obsolete.

  4. Write it down. Write your most pressing thoughts using pen and paper, then write your desired outcome. The simple act of slowing down, and writing helps the subconscious rewire your brain to release the burden and create a new desired way of thinking.

There is no one size fits all  method to “overcoming”  negative thought forms, but there are a combination of techniques and tools that can work for you. mind. What’s most important is to show yourself compassion in this journey by slowing down, honor your process, and do what you can to connect with your body, or any other area of life that feels grounding and healthy for you.
