Every April is National Donate Life Month.  This observation supports the education and registration of organ, eye and tissue donors, honoring those that have saved and gifted life to others.  Throughout the year Donate Life North Carolina hosts events and collaborates with various communities across the state to engage people in learning about the gift of life.

With the entire world reorienting and figuring out how to keep moving forward, Donate Life NC was quick to act and reached out to The C3 Method for remote virtual wellness support.  We caught up with Tanise Love, Manager of Multicultural Affairs, about why they chose to bring remote sound meditation to their community and what you can do during these times for your business.

Make Community and Connection a Priority

First, they wanted a unique offering to engage their community and believed that creating a sense of togetherness was a priority.  With public events canceled, it was important to stay connected to their community and continue engaging people with education while offering something that would be of benefit to the people they care about.

Provide Support for The Nervous System

With a little bit of outside-the-box thinking, it became apparent that offering a virtual meditation would be an ideal choice.  It was the first virtual event they’d ever done, but they figured it was worth trying something new out.

As with anything new, sometimes it can be uncomfortable to try out something we’re unfamiliar with.  Thankfully, one of our amazing instructors, Daniel Fresco, was the perfect person to calm the nerves.  He guided them through a virtual sound meditation together, playing a Japanese flute, called Shakuhachi to ease everyone into peace and serenity.  His guidance brought a sense of tranquility, something everyone’s nervous system could benefit from with so much uncertainty in the air.

Be a Source of Mental Health

With stress and worry increasingly high during these times, being a source of stability can alleviate the amount of unpredictability we are all facing in the current climate.  Meditation greatly benefits the mind and body, helping us soothe intensity that might be present.

One of the viewers shared that she needed to have him come talk to her toddler because the child was sound asleep during the meditation, apparently a rare occurrence!  Another brought her young daughter to the meditation creating a special time for mother-daughter bonding.  Even Tanise’s dog was peacefully snoring. There were all walks of life present, and according to Tanise, it was a powerful experience of togetherness for everyone and a huge boost to morale.  Tanise was happy to share that they are excited to continue doing once a month virtual sessions with their community.

Why This Matters

Despite these tumultuous times, we can still find peace in the waves of emotions, uncertainty and chaos.  The C3 Method has been dedicated to providing opportunities to connect, unwind, and center teams that have been an incredible benefit for companies.  People are extremely stressed out, some are having to work harder than ever to make deadlines while trying to manage their family and navigate the intensity of new technologies and efficient lines of communication. Regardless, wellness is important for everyone and employees deserve for their employers to prioritize mental health to show that they matter.
