Put Some Love into It

What’s your relationship with your body?  Do you love it? Do you generously thank it for every single thing it does for you?  Do you cherish it?

It’s quite a miracle that we have these strange flesh vehicles to move, groove, and be in.

Firsthand, I can say I have certainty NOT loved my body and gifted it that gratitude that it deserves for most of my life.  It’s been a labor of love and it’s really had to earn my attention through all the trials and tribulations I’ve put it through.  This uphill battle has been quite loud in my awareness during a time where I’ve been sitting a lot, going on walks and staying inside.  And most recently, I’ve been acutely aware of all the things it does for me even when I’m not noticing it.

My invitation this week is to practice loving your body.

Write it a love letter. Take a bath and thank it.  Give your feet a massage and acknowledge all the places they’ve carried you.  Breath deeply into your chest and smile at this miraculous ability to take in life and gifted it back with your exhale.  Take a look in a mirror and discover what you see with fresh eyes.

These are just a few suggestions, find what works best for you.  Loving our bodies can quite a vulnerable experience. Notice what comes up and see if you can love that too.  Wherever you find yourself is perfect and part of the process.
